So now we are into the class A/B “X”.8 amplifiers in this very comprehensive series. The more efficient class A/B operation means less heat and much higher output power compared to XA. The X.8 amplifiers are the high powered, high voltage option within the .8 series. Ideally suited to inefficient loudspeakers, larger rooms and/or “louder” music genres the X.8 amplifiers provide output power that is capable of dealing with any load presented by a loudspeaker. The X.8 amplifiers still operate in class A for the first few watts and move into class A/B when the needles on the front of the amplifiers move.
